What Services do Local Link Waterford Provide?

Our services are a combination of Scheduled Public Transport services that pick up and drop off at designated stops along a set route with a set time table.

Some of our routes offer a semi-flexible transport service, i.e. the service can divert off route if necessary to accommodate passengers’ needs.

Local Link is a national initiative specifically aimed at people in rural areas who are excluded or may become excluded because transport is not available, accessible or affordable to them locally.

Who Can Use The Local Link Service?

Local Link service are open to all members of the public with the emphasis being on providing services that particularly meet the needs of rural dwellers.

Local Link Waterford currently operates a combination of 29 scheduled and Flexible services per week from rural areas of the County to Dungarvan, Waterford City and the adjoining towns of Clonmel, Carrick-on-Suir and Youghal, there are also services to Cappoquin and Kilmacthomas Day Care Centre and Kinsalebeg Community Centre.

In partnership with Waterford Centre for Independent Living a service is available for people with disabilities, based in Dungarvan and covering a 20 mile radius of the town, these services in a fully accessible vehicle are available to people registered with Waterford Disability Network (PwDI).

Are there any reduced fares?

Free Travel Passes are accepted on all Local Link Services and there are reduced fares for students and children. Children under 5 years old travel for free.

Are Local Link Waterford Services limited to Waterford?

While Local Link Waterford provides bus services throughout Waterford, it also provides services to a number of neighbouring towns. These currently include the towns of Fermoy and Youghal (Cork) along with Carrick-on-Suir and Clonmel (Tipperary).

I am a tourist, currently on holiday in Waterford, can I use Local Link Waterford Bus Services?

Yes. Local Link Waterford services are open to all, but please be advised that there are limited return services in some areas. For a full list of current services please refer to our timetables.

Will my Free Travel Pass be accepted on Local Link Services?

Yes – Free Travel Passes are accepted on all Local Link Services
